The 2018 Uprising Cup of beach volleyball kicked off on April 21-22 at Willis Tucker Park in Snohomish County.   Top athletes from the Puget Sound Region and Portland area competed in U14, U16 and U18 age divisions earning points towards qualification for the AVPFirst National Championship and the Uprising Cup 2018 Point Differential Series!

The U14 and U18 divisions endured a typical Spring day in the Pacific Northwest on Sunday with periods of rain and hail interspersed with patches of welcomed sunshine.   The U16 division enjoyed the bulk of the weekend's sunshine on Sunday.
The progress of beach volleyball in the Pacific Northwest was on display throughout the weekend.   Players committed to Grand Canyon University, the University of Arizona, Houston Baptist University and Concordia Irvine littered the field and contributed to exciting elimination matches throughout the afternoon.

In addition towards qualification points towards the AVPFirst National Championship, which will be held in Hermosa Beach in July alongside the pro Hermosa Open event, players earned points in the first ever Uprising Cup Point Differential Championship.
The goal of the point differential point scoring model is to make every match meaningful from a point scoring perspective through the course of the tournament day.   Winning teams receive the points equal to the winning margin of each match, plus a bonus for the win with the more important elimination matches getting more points than the pool play results.

The next Uprising Cup event is the Club-Team challenge on May 19-20 at Willis Tucker Park.   There is still space available.   Learn more about this unique NCAA style beach event here.
