Watch Out for the Rowdy/Schwengle in Seattle! AVPFirst U18 National Champions Get Maindraw Wildcard in Seattle
The AVP Seattle Open is coming to Lake Sammamish State Park with fresh young faces earning their first main draw seeds. John Schwendle and Rowdy Lennon (yes, easily the coolest name for a beach player ever) and Alexis Fillipone and Megan Muret earned main draw seeds to Seattle by winning the 2017 AVPFirst U18 National Championship at Hermosa Beach.
Fillipone and Muret finished fifth at the FIVB U19 World Championships in Cypress last Summer before Fillipone started her Freshman at Pepperdine and Muret started her collegiate at UCLA.
Schwengel is scheduled to represent the United States at the 2018 FIVB U19 World Championship in Nanjing, China later in June. Lennon recently earned his CBVA AA ranking and teamed with Schwengel as the number 1 team from Santa Monica High School.
The main draw in Seattle starts Friday June 22. Both teams will likely be the 16th seed and get a first round match-up against the top seeded team in the event.
